firstly, i'd like to say that i'm very encouraged that our blog seems a little more active now, in that there is more participation from everyone in the cg :) way to go, girls! :)
secondly, please identify yourselves after you post, so that we know who you are. our dear bubu whose grandaunt just passed away, please identify yourself so that we can pray for you :)
thirdly, missions food fair updates! as this sun is the deadline, i hope we can keep each other updated about our research and whether we've found any new "lobangs" throughout this week, so that our discussion on sun can be "chop-chop". i've checked out some filipino cookbooks in the NUS bookstore and oh man... filipino food is super challenging to cook lah. heard from nat that it's kinda hard to find stuff online on the philippines too. how bout the rest of you? :) what's your progress like?
newaes, here are some alternatives for us to think about, should we not stick to filipino food and country profile/culture.
1) find out about a missionary (life, ministry), and cook food from that missionary's country.
2) find out about a missions organisation, e.g. Youth With a Mission (YWAM), find out more about what they do, and create dishes e.g. choc/cheese fondue to symbolize a melting pot of cultures.
3) vietnamese food (beef noodles, spring roll, etc. - easier to cook) and country profile/culture
4) indian food (roti pratas of diff flavours, e.g. ham, cheese & shrooms, choc & banana etc.) and country profile/culture
5) find out more about the situation of the church in England now, and the issues to pray for, then we can still do our english cafe.
6) find out more about students who come from overseas (e.g. China) to study in singapore, and how they feel (lonely? stressed out due to added pressure to do well in school?), how we can reach out to them with the love of Christ etc., and create dishes e.g. a new drink where we can put honey stars and marshmellows in ribena to symbolize a fusion between the china and singapore flags? wahaha. sounds gross. or we can whip up some simple dishes from the countries our foreign student friends come from? this is in line with missions @ our doorstep, where we can reach out to foreigners in our midst :)
hokies, i've said enough. so, what do you girls think? come on come on! we should discuss as much as we can here so that this sun not so "xiong". also, we should do research on more than one idea, so that we get more options, ok? :)
ok, respond, respond! go to www.blogger.com and key in our username and password :) go go go! hehe.
love, adrielle
